SANDHILL CRANES MOONLIGHT PAINTING
There's something timeless and romantic about large birds in flight, sandhill cranes in particular. Western Colorado is one of the migratory flyways for greater sandhill cranes. It's always exciting for me to hear them overhead and wonder how much farther they will fly before stopping for the night for a well-needed rest before the next day's flight. I painted layer upon layer of blue glazes to achieve the deep, rich night sky. The birds are backlit by cool moonlight. I had a wonderful time, taking my time, with this painting.
